Brodie Leagues
Brodie is a competitive sports platform built for the culture — blending streetball energy, community, and gamified features. It connects players and fans through leagues, archetypes, team battles, and social content. Think of it as part basketball app, part lifestyle brand — designed to feel like a video game with real-world stakes.

Challenge
Brodie League challenged me to design a bold, cinematic mobile onboarding experience for players and fans joining the platform. The goal was to create something that felt fast, immersive, and true to Brodie’s culture — competitive, community-driven, and player-obsessed.
Solution
Brodie’s onboarding needed to do three things well:
Help users create a profile quickly.
Match them with the right archetype (Slasher, Big, Guard, etc.).
Set the tone for gamification, teams, and social play.
They asked for 7 screens that reflect:
Identity capture
Physical profile
Player type
Archetype assignment
Team confirmation
Friend sync
Social links
My Approach
I kept the interface clean, mobile-first, and rhythm-driven. The flow gradually builds momentum — starting simple (name, body type), then getting deeper into identity and team structure. I treated archetype selection like a character-select screen from a sports video game, using cinematic visuals and big personality moments to build hype.

Ranking System

To bring the idea of player progression to life, I designed a set of XP ranking screens that reflect each level through distinct colors, copy, and layout changes. The goal was to make each step in the journey feel exciting and rewarding — from beginners to top-tier players.
I used pre-existing badge assets provided by Brodie and built the screens around them. Each level has a unique color scheme that instantly signals progression, while the XP bar clearly shows how close the user is to the next rank. Labels like "XP Level 3" or "Top 50 Lethals" add motivational language to create a sense of status and achievement.
The screens were designed to feel premium and game-like while still being easy to understand. CTAs like “Join a New Squad” or “Next” are placed at the bottom for quick access and to keep users flowing forward in the onboarding experience.

Results
This project was a great opportunity to push creative boundaries within a tight 8–12 hour window. The final onboarding flow was praised for its clean layout, high-energy tone, and smart UX decisions that made the experience feel both fun and intuitive. From the archetype selection to the XP progression system, each screen was designed to feel part of a cohesive journey — one that captures the competitive spirit and culture of Brodie League.
To meet the deadline without sacrificing quality, I used AI tools like ChatGPT to help with quick iterations on content strategy, layout ideas, and copywriting. I also used AI-assisted design tools to mock up visuals faster and stay focused on what mattered most — making the experience feel authentic and engaging for real hoopers.
Although the project didn’t lead to a full-time position, it gave me the chance to show what I could do under pressure, and how I think through onboarding psychology, brand tone, and player motivation. More than anything, it was a reminder that great design isn’t just about visuals — it’s about making people feel like they belong the second they join.
